Van Bentum recently reached an agreement with the German trailer manufacturer Kögel for the purchase of 150 new curtainsider semi-trailers for ferry traffic. The new trailers are equipped with all the necessary means for today's ferry traffic. In addition, due to the lower weight of the trailer Van Bentum can optimise payloads.

As a novelty, the sliding roof of the trailers are fitted with reinforced tarpaulin. Senior Planner Bert Morren says about this: “For the sides, reinforced tarpaulin was already quite normal, but within the roof is new. This will prevent potential access to the trailer from the top.”

Because the trailers are mainly used for unaccompanied ferry traffic, they must be able to withstand rough seas. The trailers are equipped with ferry lashing rings to secure the trailer to the deck, but there are also plenty of options in the cargo space itself to make the crossing as secure as possible.

The trailers meet the TÜV-XL standard for load securing. The delivery of the 150 trailers will take place in phases over a period of one year, with the first trailers being delivered in June.

With this investment, Van Bentum again meets the latest standards and is ready for the future!
